This event will help you to understand how to expand your network and influence the future of pipeline research and industry. We will discuss resources available at PRCI, how you can get more involved in the many committees, and the opportunities to hone your leadership skills.

Dr. Shahani Kariyawasam: Dr. Kariyawasam has led innovative engineering projects on all continents (exceptAntarctica) collaborating with international operators, vendors, regulators, standards committees, and industry organizations. She graduated from University of Alberta with a Ph.D. focused on risk and reliability. She has worked with PRCI, TC Energy, GE Oil & Gas, C-FER Technologies, and Universities. She has published over 60 papers and is the inventor of several patents. She is a recipient of the APEGA gold medal, TC Energy CEO Safety Awards, CEPA quality Award and the Global Pipeline Award for the innovations she has led. Presently with PRCI, she is the Executive Director of Knowledge Transfer.

Mr. Thomas Marlow: Thomas Marlow is Director of Research with Pipeline Research Council International, Thomas manages Research Execution Programs in collaboration with PRCI staff, PRCI Member representatives, Research Contractors and Representative of Co-Funding Entities. Thomas works within the overall review and support framework of Technical Committees (TC) representing the breadth of the PRCI Research Execution Programs and membership interests. Thomas has prior industry experience in natural gas transmission and distribution operations and maintenance, construction, project management, codes and standards, gas measurement, underground storage, and pipeline integrity management, He has served in management roles in asset management, distribution integrity, corrosion control and compliance. Mr. Marlow earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a Master of Science in Management and is a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional. His 42 years of experience includes direct responsibility for management of Pipeline Energy Delivery Organizations implementation and governance of Pipeline Safety Regulations; Emergency Planning and Response, and Installation, maintenance, design, and operations of gas transmission and hazardous liquid pipeline systems.
